Catchy Omega SPM+ Reels

Vital Nutrients approached me to help promote the launch of their new product that provided benefits over standard Fish Oil supplements.  In order to compete with some of the larger names in the space, the brand wanted high production value content that still stayed true to it’s scientific roots.  

I met with Content Manager, Kinsey Jackson, to better understand the unique qualities of their Vegan Omega SPM+ product so that I could help find ways to position it with their market. 

Before starting production I extensively researched the product and ingredients.  Although some videos could lean on simple size and potency comparisons I also wanted to find a unique scientific angle that could be visually compelling. This lead me to the main ingredient, Schizochytrium sp., derived from an algae normally eaten by fish and whose production methods and microscopy images gave me just the interest I was looking for. 

My main focus for each of the videos was some form of pattern interruption.  I wanted to unique or catchy visuals that would buy time with the viewer so that they could learn more about the unique product. 

I settled on the use of interesting camera moves, bright and saturated colors, and unique or strange subject matter. These could be married together in editing with intriguing animated text and energetic music to achieve my original goals. 

For one video I used raw fish, a unique and accurate algae-looking solution, and a continuously sliding camera.  In another I used a macro push-pull (Vertigo shot) zoom to highlight scale, and in another I used stop motion to animate the supplement capsules to spell out the benefits. 

After review, custom versions were created in different aspect ratios and with varying additional copy to help serve as Instagram Reels, Stories, and ads.
