My Photography History

I have been fascinated with photography since I was a little kid. My dad used to let me play with his Fujica SLR camera ( when it between rolls of film, of course) and I would practice my focusing while shooting hundreds of photos of everything around me.

Fast forward to my middle school years. I bought my first SLR camera, a Canon EOS Elan IIE. I saved and saved, studying the camera catalogs for the most amazing camera, packed with the newest technology, to take me on my own photography journey.

Later, in 2001, I bought my very first digital camera, a point and shoot Canon PowerShot S110 that I took everywhere with me. I still took “serious” photos on film but quickly learned that, even though the memory card only held a few dozen photos, the camera you weren’t afraid to shoot with will always make your best pictures.

Over the next decade I always kept some sort of pocket camera around, capturing and documenting my life. However, I began to miss being more thoughtful, composed, and deliberate in my photography. I decided it was time to jump back into the professional camera world, this time with a newly burgeoning mirrorless Panasonic GH3.

Since then, my photography has exploded. I’ve captured tens of thousands of photos, fallen deep for vintage Contax Zeiss lenses, changed systems to Sony APS-C and then Full Frame. As my photography continues to grow and evolve I still retain the hunger and excitement I had when I was a kid, inspired to shoot everything around me.
